I usually stick to one book, but not only am I dipping into four books right now, they are startlingly distinct:
Marital Bliss with a Kiss of Reality by Michelle Beachy and Christy Smucker
(parts make me cringe, but I like the stories)
Merry Hall by Beverly Nichols
(a twee British guy who cracks me up with his whimsical stories about renovating his old estate)
Mad Hungry: Feeding Men and Boys by Lucinda Scala Quinn
(LOVE this book - Quinn is right on)
Boundaries with Kids by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend
(current Sunday School text - makes fascinating class discussions)
What are you reading? Enjoying it?

Mad hungry? When till Ben sits in front of the fridge and just evaporated your whole grocery budget yet tells you there is nothing in the house to eat. Been there, glad they are men now with they own grocery issues. I just have girls at home now. They eat there fair share.
I want to hear about the parts that make you cringe.
A friend just loaned me Incredibly Loud and Incredibly Close. ("Sounds like our family," said my husband.)
I've been intrigued by Mad Hungry for a while; I'm thinking I must get it very soon.
I'm reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Spoken From the Heart by Laura Bush, and Called Out by Lee Warren (a brain surgeon who served in Iraq).
JJ, of course you do. The chapter on headship made me slightly sick. I believe my husband and I are equals, that we submit equally to each other with grace and humility (you know, ideally) - not that he is my boss and not that headship transferred from my father to my husband when I was married.
Interesting stack of books, Margo! All good.
Let's see here...
The Heart of Anger
The Great Christmas Bowl (my "fluff" book of the moment)
The Connected Child (on adoption)
The Princess Adelina (to the girls at night)
Whew. Didn't realize I was reading four as well!
Jennifer Jo--that was the best book I'd read in a long time.
Currently working through An Exact Replica of a Figment of my Imagination by Elizabeth McCracken about her experience with stillbirth. A memoir that's funny and painful.
I'd heard a review of it on NPR. The text of which is here: http://www.npr.org/2011/01/04/132659775/this-exact-replica-is-more-than-just-a-tragedy
I am so happy that someone else knows Beverly Nichols! I have thrust him upon gardening friends who were not nearly enthusiastic enough. I own both gardening trilogies and read them over and over - and laugh out loud every time.
dear eisensim, it was your daughter who introduced me to him. And that is her very book in the photo :) He is so droll.
I want to hear the cringe parts!
I am a little scared of the eggs on the cover, too.
Emily, see my first comment above.
I've been going through and reading some of your book reviews. We recently joined a book club and are enjoying it so much - but always looking for more books to read. Not that I should, since I have a towering stack by my bed now!
And I always like to read other's opinions on the same books as I've read - such as Martial Bliss.
