Do you remember going to fabric stores with your mom? I do. Hated it. Now I torture my kids with it.
Farmgirl, my mom didn't sew, but she took me because I begged her to and she had hired a church lady to teach me (because I begged!). I think my mom was the tortured one while I crept through the racks, changing my mind and getting lost in visions.
I love those florals - some bright and cheery, some subtle and sweet and all beautiful jewel tones together - beautiful!
Kylie always wanted to choose a spool of thread when we went to the fabric store. To this day, I have a fine collection of "purkle fred". It pleases me to see it in the drawer. Your shawl is lovely!

Polly, no pattern; I did the applique on two long rectangles and then sewed them together. Easy! The colors are the eye-catcher, not the construction.
