I made the shirt the same way as last year's blue calico that matched Genevieve's. The kitties are so adorably quaint and the colors so whimsical that I couldn't even add lavender rick-rack or black hand-stitching; the kitties carried the day.
The fabric has been in my stash for years, waiting for the right little girl in the summer. The pleasure I feel in this shirt on this girl in this summer reinforces all my saving tendencies. What if all my saved stuff could blossom in this way after years?

Look at that smile! She is absolutely adorable.
As someone with a prodigious fabric stash, I GET IT!!! Oh, the satisfaction! Well done, you frugal thrifty woman!
And, how delighted is this precious girl in her new kitty top!?! Adorable!
What an adorable kitty shirt on an adorable little girl! I read the title of your post quickly, and I thought it said "A Kitty For Phoebe"! And of course on the small picture on my blog feed, I thought the phone that she was holding was her new kitty! :) :)
Such cute kitties! And Phoebe seems so delighted with everything! Such a smile. I have recently been purging my stash drastically. But it has less to do with hopes for its future than it does with admitting that we live in a small house, and don't have good places for things. I don't want clutter and confusion, and it takes me a while to complete any sewing project (for various reasons). Now, with less on my shelf - and what's there is stuff I really love - I feel more peaceful. If I sewed as fast and furiously as Anna, it wouldn't be a problem. :)
That fabric! How wonderful.
What a dear little girl in her adorable new outfit! I hear you on the saving tendencies and the pleasure when something we've loved and kept for years "blossoms" (what a great way to put it!) ...
The shirt is adorable, and I'm sure your little one loves it (especially the sweet kitties).
