I really dislike dusting, and I wish houseplants stayed dust-free. But they don't.
So I plunk them in the shower and spray them off about once a year (should be more often), which gets off the most obvious dust and gives the plants a treat. There are some plants that don't like their leaves wet, however, such as jade plants and African violets.
This time, I handed the spray bottle to Ben and he did an excellent job. Today is
sparkle-and-shine cleaning, so we're off to tidy up and get at it.
And then I need to start wrapping my mind around Christmas. We've got an Advent calendar going in fits and starts, I'm leading Advent songs on Sunday at church, Ben's Christmas program is tonight, but we don't have any decorations or cookies going. Deep breath. Focus on meaningful . . .and clean house. A clean house always helps me.

How did you know that I was just wiping each individual leaf with a damp cloth until I grew absolutely maddened by the task and decide that its good enough!! I always knew there had to be an easier way. Ha! In the shower! That's it...my plants are getting a shower this weekend. And they'll love it. Why didn't I think of this before!?
Ben looks so little back in that sparkle and shine post! Now he's so big as he wields that spray bottle!
yes, focus on meaningful indeed!! that's really what it's all about! And a clean house is a joy.
My mom does the same thing! I don't have any plants inside because I have zero sunlight. :-(

I remember my Mom doing this! Thanks for visiting today! :)
I've spent some time checking your other posts that came up as links at the bottom. You would think that by age 55 I would have the cleaning routine figured out, but as our circumstances change, I find the routine must change also. We have a large house, 30 years of accumulated stuff, aging parents, and I work part-time and don't have the energy I once did, so it seems to be a constant struggle against the dust bunnies here. Thank you for sharing your methods, as I've picked up a few ideas to try, in particular not to schedule all the major jobs in one day, and to alternate some of the lighter jobs from week to week. I think these things will help!
Great Idea.. give them a shower.. Perfect place..
Cleaning house, can be such a never ending chore, can't it? But, I so agree, it feels so good, once its all clean.. Then the CHrismas decorations and cookies can happen.
Sending prayers for the kids program..
Jenny-o, thanks for the heartwarming response. I love sharing ideas and hearing how other people do things.
