Hot. Really Hot

We are in a heat wave and this is the summer that my husband and I decided to try skipping air conditioning.  Our old house doesn't have central air, but we're not planning to get out the window units either.  When I happened to check the temperature at 3am this morning (don't ask), it was still 82 degrees outside.  It came down from 91 when I went to bed.  That's hot for my part of the world.

It's possible we will get out the window bangers (as my dad calls them).

I'm feeling feeble and listless, inclined only to drink things with ice in them and take arctic showers three times a day.  Last night in a fit of insanity I made a caftan, but I'm too hot to photograph it.

I've been going to great lengths to keep the heat outside.  Not that we felt like eating Asian crockpot beef, but the roast had been thawed before the heat wave, so I did my best.

Too hot to sweep the sidewalk either.

No a/c... you're a stronger woman that me. But, I do live in the deep south and it gets hotter here than in your neck of the woods. When we lived in Ohio we were without central air, it was hot but doable. Then our landlord but in a/c and my southern heart was happy.

Keep the icy drinks flowing and pull out the sprinkler!

The heat's here too - I've been doing a lot of grilling or sandwiches : ) We're also determined not to use the air conditioners! It's 97% humidity today...I did sewing in the basement this afternoon - dark and cooler there : )

I started putting my crock pot on the porch when I was pregnant and cooking smells made me gag. Now it's one of my handy habits for these hot days too.

A, "window bangers" is my dad's silly term for window air conditioning units. I think he calls them that because he thinks they're noisy.

Oh, poor Margaret! Go to the beach immediately, as I am tommorow.

We finally turned on the central air last night. This trailer doesn't ventilate well, and last night we'd all about had it. I can hardly wait to move out this trailer!

Wow -- you're doing awesome! I turn off the AC during the day at home ... but it's set at 72 when hub comes home. Of course, he'd like it at 68 ...
