This spot in our kitchen has been a process. First there was the free table and stools from a friend's parents who were moving. Then we installed the red light over the table; I really wish it was a translucent red, so that it would glow when the light was on. Then I made red slipcovers for the stools to hide the boring beige. Finally, I bought an original oil painting from
Anna of Pleasantview Schoolhouse.
People perch there while I'm cooking, or I stop there with a cookbook and a snack. I leave the parts of the Sunday
New York Times that I haven't read yet on the table, and read at them throughout the week. I pull Phoebe's high chair out there for lunch and have a cozy tête-a'-tête with her, sitting sideways so she puts her feet on my knees. It's a fun spot.

Love it!
What a cozy little corner! I love that painting.
Looks great! I love the coziness. I have about 11 oil paintings I need to hang somewhere.....maybe I'll take your lead and just DO IT.
That is a lovely little space. I like the red light shade. Xxx
I want to come sit in that nook while you cook!
What a great use of a small space! Love that the table and stools were free. :-)
Oh, it's lovely! I love little cozy places like yours! And I love the thought of Phoebe with her feet on your knees! How sweet :)
Anna's painting looks perfect there and matches your stool covers just right. It's a great little space you've made, Margo!
How cute!
