I was thrilled to find the perfect coral bias tape in my stash, so I used it inside and outside the bodice. The buttons are Beatrix Potter. (side note: I have always adored the name "Jemima Puddleduck" and thought she must have a delightful story, but recently found the book in our Little Free Library and was in for a nasty surprise as the fox gets after her. I'm going to put it out of my mind and think instead on her lovely name.)
Unfortunately, the age of the feedsack scrap means that it's not holding its seams very well. I may be patching it up a few times, but it's worth it for Phoebe's pleasure in the nightie and my pleasure in the colors together. She's such a dear.

ReplyDeleteMargo, when I read this post, I was convicted - it takes me forever to get anything sewn because I always put housework first. And so, I don't get to it! But you are so productive. I remember that years ago you said you don't do housework, but I can't imagine that Margo is living in a filthy house, so you just have a different balance of your time than I seem to - anyway, yesterday I pinned up my quilt layers in the morning before I did anything else. May this new plan continue! :)

ReplyDeleteLisa, I always put cooking and laundry before sewing :) but not cleaning. My big kids do the regular weekly cleaning (PRAISE GOD). I've also been guided by Anna at PleasantView who said she grabs a few minutes here and there to just sew one seam. So I nibble away at projects as I can (not pinning a quilt - that's a big job that requires a chunk of time!!). And also, my BFF said sometimes you just *have* to prioritize your creative outlet because the housework is endless! I like outer order for inner calm, but if the filth isn't too visible, I carry on. I wish you the best as you ride the wave of inspiration and new priorities!
