It's a wonderful gift. Did sis-in-law like it?<br /><br />I did make a couple things for Christmas, myself: a knitted backpack-type purse for my older daughter. I lined it as well (I think they last longer, & just function more like a purse is supposed to). And for my younger daughter, a reversible apron, in her favorite colors. I'm glad you mentioned about working with velvet. I was planning to sew some velvet and some velour items of recycled fabric, but will research now to see if there is some technique that will avoid the problem you had.<br /><br />I didn't get started on Christmas presents soon enough this year, but I'm looking at doing some potholders for my mom and mom-in-law for mother's day.
