The Best Jobs for Toddlers

I found a great job for Phoebe and she agrees (key point of this being a great job).  I let her stand on the stool (important!) in order to pinch off the eyes of the storage potatoes.  She can't really break the potatoes or the basket I keep them in.  She can see her progress, and this is a truly useful way to keep our potatoes nice.

Other best jobs for toddlers?  Phoebe has lots of energy to spare!

I have some potatoes for that cutie to take care of! And a step stool!

Mine liked to dust baseboards if they had a fun duster to use and emptying the small trashcans into a paper bag with the top folded over to help hold it open was also a favorite. Grandchildren like to clean windows with a damp microfiber glass cleaning cloth. Too bad I did not have those when my kids were growing up!

I just got mine a dust buster and she is now happily keeping the house vacuumed up. She's especially handy on stairs and corners and behind doors!

Anything she could do on the stool! Stirring, putting things in the mixing bowl for me, learning to measure properly - as long as mine was on the stool, all was well.

Oh, my gosh, what a perfect job for a toddler! Those little fingers are perfect for pinching.

I'm sorry I can't come up with any others. It's been too long!

That's a great task for toddlers! After reading this article, we have our toddler daughter move clothes from the washer to dryer (both are low front loaders so she can reach!) and pick up her toys and dirty clothing. She also likes to "sweep" but someone has to sweep up after her haha.

I just had a couple of thoughts, as I was looking through one of our old photo albums from when our kids were toddlers. How about "washing" windows? Jenna loved spraying the windex and wiping with paper towels/cloths. Or matching socks in the laundry? That one might be a little trickier, depending on age and ability, but it's a job I thoroughly dislike, and even if it's not done perfectly, it would occupy her and would be no more work than doing it yourself initially. :)

I will give my toddlers a cleaning cloth and fill bucket halfway up with some warm water and squirt of dish soap and let them wash things in my living room and dining room: the dining table and benches, the coffee table, wall, doors, the tv stand, baseboards, etc. You get the idea. I also make them pick up after themselves. They are not so eager to help with this, but I think it's important to teach them to be responsible for their things and messes.
