Found Containers as Drawer Organizers

I love the jigsaw puzzle of a drawer, fitting all the little things in there so that people can grab what they need and also see the obvious spot to put it back.  Of course, this does not mean the drawer stays tidy or the things put themselves away again in their spot.

I do not buy drawer organizers anymore.  I use little boxes, bins, cups, and oddities when I can.

And I keep a spot in a closet just for this kind of random, found storage container.  The containers are all just shoved in there as I collect them.

I love learning to look differently at things, to see opportunities where previously I did not.

Aha! So there are more of us out there...those with a designated spot for containers to be squirreled away in until they can be put to their (new) proper use. I'd never thought of it like a jigsaw puzzle before though. But, its true. :)

What pretty drawers! After I get my drawers all tidied I've considered electrifying them so anyone who tried to mess with the system would get a stern shock. Is that extreme?

Confession: I actually shop the grocery store for foods that have the containers I can reuse afterwards - I take that into account with the price.

I do buy the drawer organizers - more for my husbands peace of mind than anything else - I call him the "Tote Master" because he loves having everything organized. I have to keep him away from the tote isle at the store or he'll bring home a bunch of new containers!

Ha -- I love when I see someone else's secret stash of cloth napkins. I'm not the only one! :) Also love the loom band pencil grip... we must have a score of those at the house these days.

We use found containers, but one day we also cut down some cereal boxes and covered them with scrapbook paper. My girls go nuts with paper and scissors, so it was great fun for them. I like crafts that turn creativity to a utilitarian end sometimes...

Found containers make great Easter baskets (and are usually smaller and more doable), too!

I too, save all kinds of boxes/containers to reuse.. Works great in my sewing room, in the kitchen and my bathroom cabinets too. thanks for sharing.

I like your organization! I save containers, too. I never knew what to do with them - but now I do. It's odd what "obvious" things do not occur to a person ... one of the reasons I love to read others' thoughts on housekeeping and sewing and crafts.

Carlos, my blog is so far my "cookbook." I've been a cookbook editor and the plethora of books out there does not encourage me to add to the market! But thanks for the compliment.
